Women will be the Ones

January 14, 2017 Krista Reierson

We gathered together, bound at the wrist as a symbol of all the ways we are bound to our lineage, to our stories, to our trauma and our limitations, and we walked to the top of a hill in the desert.

As we reached our destination, we formed a circle and each woman, one at a time, or sometimes in bouts together, would call out words that no longer served.

Fear.

Shame.

Perfectionism.

Doubt.

Isolation.

Guilt.

More and more words gathered with us and swirled above our heads; our souls hungrily awaiting the purge of toxicity.

It was our 'weaknesses' that brought us together, not pulled us apart; each woman eager to love herself for the divine and wild creature that she is: we had all forgotten our magnificence, descended from magnitude into littleness, so we gathered to remember for each other, and for the collective.

When all the words were mustered from the undercurrent of our wombs, the whispers in our hearts, and the rapture of our souls longing to love our entirety, we removed the string, the symbol of our lineage, and release her to the flame.

One by one, each woman began to remove her clothes, to bare her soul, to reclaim herself in the divinity of human form.

Some were nervous, some were unsure, some jumped out of their skin at the opportunity to be reborn.

We stood there naked in the setting sun, the fullness of the moon washed over us and cleansed our spirits of the lies we've been lead to believe.

Female form in all of her variations is the canvas of creation; she rises from the heart of the earth and loves without condition.

Many women waste their entire incarnation searching for a predetermined form of beauty attainable to no one. She distracts herself from her purpose, her healing, her legacy and her freedom.

Not us, not then, and not now.

Together we transformed and as we closed the circle a giant tarantula, a symbol from our ancestors, graced us with her presence; she whispered in the wind that we were doing it right, she urged us to stay wise as she gracefully movedover rocks, reminding us of our nobility and that women will be the ones who bring back peace.
